Locals Programs

For Thompson-Nicola Regional District Residents

The Locals Program is for residents of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).

Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP) offers beginner to advanced ski and snowboard lessons for participants ages 6–96 years living with:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Visual disabilities
  • Neurodivergency

Lesson Times

Two-Hour Lessons

Morning: 10:00am- 12:00pm
Afternoon: 1:00pm – 3:00pm


Local Drop-In Lessons

December 14, 2026 – March 28, 2027

Drop-In lessons begin Monday, December 14th and run through Sunday, March 28th.

Some blackout dates apply.

Adaptive lessons are available 5–7 days a week, mornings or afternoons.

Cost $65 per 2-hour lesson

Booking Information

Due to the limited number of volunteer instructors and equipment, bookings should be made as far in advance as possible.

We will do our best to find instructors for your requested lesson dates and times; however, lessons are not guaranteed.

Please provide at least 72 hours’ notice when requesting lessons.


5-Week Local Lesson Sets

We offer two 5-week lesson sets per season.

Please register for one set only to start, then email to get on a waitlist for another Set.

Set 2 Feb 15, 2027 – March 21, 2027 $170

 

Each lesson set includes five 2-hour lessons.

Lift tickets are not included in the cost of lessons.


👤 Individual Student Lessons

For beginner and returning students.

  • 2-hour lesson
  • Morning or Afternoon
  • Accompanied by 2–3 instructors, depending on needs

👥 Small Group Lessons

For returning students.

  • 2-hour lesson
  • Small number of students
  • Morning or afternoon
  • 2–4 instructors, depending on needs

During registration, we will ask about your interest in individual or small group lessons.

School Field Trip Support

Students living in the TNRD can register for Drop-In Lessons if they are visiting the mountain with their class and require a separate lesson from their classmates.

Membership Requirement

All ASSP students are required to hold memberships with:

  • Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP)
  • BC Adaptive Snowsports (BCAS)
  • Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS)

Total annual membership cost: $73

Membership makes you eligible for 50% discounted lift tickets. You will need to present your membership number to Guest Services.

The membership also covers students and instructors for liability insurance and is expected by the national CADS body.

Participating for 1 day only? A prorated membership is available. Please ask at the time of booking.

Where Lessons Begin

Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks lessons begin and end slope-side of the Village Day Lodge, just outside Masa’s Restaurant, unless other arrangements are made.

Registration Requirements

  1. Log in or set up a new account in Snowline
  2. Starting September 1, purchase CADS Membership for the 2026–27 season
  3. Complete CADS Waivers:
    • CADS National Safe Sport
    • CADS National Code of Conduct
    • CADS National Minor or Ward Student
  4. Complete ASSP Student Medical Form and/or Physician Medical Consent
  5. Complete Photo Release
  6. Registration is submitted for review
  7. Registration is accepted
  8. Provide payment for program fees

Registration & Payment Policies

CADS Membership

CADS membership is required for participation in all programs.

Membership fees are non-refundable.

Membership renewal begins September 1, 2026.

Autism Funding

Autism funding is accepted.

Please inform the office at the time of booking by emailing:

Program Policies

Registration & Cancellation

Programs will run pending registration.

If cancellation is necessary, ASSP will notify you and fees will be fully refunded.

Lesson Limits

Winter Programming — Locals: Registration is limited to a maximum total of 10 lessons for local lesson sets and drop-ins combined.

Winter Programming — Out-of-Town Guests: Registration is limited to a maximum total of 10 drop-in lessons.

Force Majeure

No refunds will be issued if a lesson or program is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as:

  • Inclement weather
  • Power outages
  • Other unforeseen circumstances

Cold Weather Policy

Lessons/programs will be cancelled when the temperature is:

  • −15°C or colder
  • −12°C for sit-skiers

Make-Up Policy

Due to the availability of our volunteer instructors, make-up lessons are not possible for missed lessons.


Helpful Information

Arriving for Your Lesson

Caregivers and/or parents are asked to accompany the student to meet their instructors.

First Lesson

Depending on the equipment required, instructors will spend a portion of the first lesson:

  • Assessing the student
  • Ensuring the student is appropriately dressed for the weather and safety
  • Checking items such as gloves, helmet, goggles, neck warmer, boots, etc.
  • Ensuring equipment is correctly adjusted

Volunteer Instructors

Sessions are provided by trained volunteer instructors and are available daily depending on instructor availability.
