Locals Programs 2025-26
The locals program is for residents of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. ASSP offers beginner to advanced ski & snowboard lessons for participants ages 6-96 years, living with physical and/or visual disabilities and/or neurodivergency.

Lesson Times:
Two Hour Lessons
10-12 am
1-3 pm
New for 2025-26! – 4 hour lesson option for experienced riders only
Times as above with a 1 hour break for lunch.
Local Drop-Ins
Drop-In Lessons Begin Monday December 15th through Sunday March 29th. (Some black-out dates apply)
Adaptive lessons are available 7 days a week – mornings or afternoons. Please note that due to the limited number of volunteer instructors, and equipment, bookings should be made as far in advance as possible. We will do our best to find instructors for your requested lessons dates and times however, lessons are not guaranteed. Please provide at least 72 hours notice when requesting lessons.

Locals Lesson Sets – Individual & Group Lessons
We offer two, 5 week lesson sets per season.
Set 1 (Jan 5 2026-Feb 8 2026)
Set 2 (Feb 16 2026-March 22 2026)

Green/Blue Terrain
2 hour lesson with up to 3 students. Students will be matched with other students of similar age and ability accompanied by 2 instructors. Students should be capable on green terrain and have started to ride blue terrain.
Blue/Black Terrain
2 hour lesson with up to 3 students. Students will be matched with other students of similar age and ability accompanied by 2 instructors. Students should be capable on green and blue terrain and have started to ride black terrain.
There is high demand for our Locals lesson set Program with numbers growing each year. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Should you be interested in both lesson sets, you will be wait-listed for the second set which can be either Set #1 or Set #2. This is to ensure no one misses out. Once there is space available for a second set, you will be contacted by program staff.
NEW! Caregiver Lessons – Drop In
Is your loved one learning to ski or snowboard? Would you like to be able to ride with them? Sign up for a lesson or two and learn to ski or snowboard. Learn tips & tricks for sliding with your loved one.

School Field Trip Support
Students living in the TNRD can register for Drop-in Lessons if they are visiting the mountain with their class and require a separate lesson from their classmates. Please contact the Executive Director for more details adaptivesportsatsunpeaks@gmail.com.
*All students of ASSP are required to hold a membership with ASSP, BCAdative Snowsports, and Canadian Adaptive Snowsports ($71 total). Membership makes you eligible for discounted lift tickets (discounted 50%). You will need to present your membership number to guest services. This membership also covers students and instructors for liability insurance and is expected by the national CADS body. For those participating for 1 day only, a prorated membership is available. Inquire at time of booking.
Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks lessons begin and end slope-side of the Village Day Lodge, just outside Masa’s Restaurant unless other arrangements are made.

Registration Policies
CADS Membership is required for participation in all programs. Membership fees are non-refundable. Membership renewal as of September 1 2025.
Methods of Payment: Online payments only. Credit Cards accepted, VISA & MASTERCARD.
Autism funding accepted. Please inform the office at time of booking by emailing adaptivesportsatsunpeaks@gmail.com. Include first and last name of student and program AFU funding should be applied to. For more info go to Autism Funding.
Programs will run pending registration. If cancellation is necessary, ASSP will notify you and fees will be fully refunded.
Winter Programming – locals registration is limited to a maximum total of 10 lessons for locals lesson sets and drop-ins combined.
Winter Programming – out of town guests registration is limited to a maximum total of 10 drop-in lessons.
Force Majeure – No refunds will be issued if a lesson or program is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, power outages etc.
Cold Weather Policy – Lessons/programs cancelled if the temperature is -15 degrees celsius or colder, -12 degrees celsius for sit-skiers.
- Make Up Policy for missed lessons – Due to the availability of our volunteer instructors, make-up lessons are not possible.
