Three Adaptive Ski Instructors and ten participants took part in the Santa Claus Parade in Kamloops on November 30th,
2013. This was the first time Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks has participated in the event, and judging by the looks on the faces of the children in the audience that found the penguins highly entertaining, it definitely won’t be the last.
The Parade officially began at 3rd Avenue and Victoria, but spectators were lined up all the way up to St Paul. The excitement and energy was palpable as the participants waved and handed out mini candy canes, while the penguins delivered a choreographed number which delighted adults and children alike. The parade continued along for several blocks, jam-packed with spectators on both sides.
The 2013 Santa Claus Parade will be broadcast on CFJC-TV 7 at noon on December 7th, 2013. Don’t miss it! Initial plans are to return again next year, a little bigger but just as fun!
Thank you to the Noble and Gillis families for helping out with the transportation and decorating, and to Sun Peaks Resort Corporation for their continuing support of the Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks program.
